A lot has been packed into an extremely short Spring term this year - including some new partners in the PDP scheme: They include Norwich Courts, Waitrose and the Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health Partnership. Here's what delegates have said:
"I really didn't know how interesting working at the Courts could be ...as a careers adviser I will now promote this sector positively .. thank you" (PDP event at Norwich Courts) "The information I have learned today will be used in my GCSE and A level media classes ... the passion for working n this sector is clear to see ..." (PDP event at Epic TV) The list of placement hosts is growing and widening and includes..... RSPCA, Theatres, John Lewis, May Gurney, the EDP, RTN, Saindbury's Arts Centre, Anglian Water, Purple Studios, media companies, Delias, Science Park, BAS, SERCO and the N and N. Placements range from the retail and media sectors to Engineering and Construction. Some illustrations of Spring Term placements: Construction, Engineering and Energy Sectors: 33 delegates (teachers and connexions staff) spent a day with Eco Tech updating their knowledge of these key industries, giving delegates an insight into the wide range of skills, and therefore opportunities, these sectors cover, from GCSE to Masters level leading to many career options available. Retail Industry: 15 Food Technology/Enterprise teachers spent a day with Waitrose, Norwich, learning about the new Waitrose KS 4 Enterprise Skills pack for schools. The pack was developed with schools to develop the skills of pupils of medium to high ability. The pack introduces young people to the complex web of relationships and business decisions involved in creating a new product. 10 Business Studies teachers/PAs visited Norwich's famous independent store, Jarrolds, to learn more about the range of operations involved in running a large independent department store, from recruitment through marketing to business turnover.
